Keep it on lock

One feature of Android 15 that we absolutely cannot overstate is its dedication to security and privacy. With Theft Detection Lock, AI works to keep your data safe; if an Android phone senses someone has grabbed it and is making a run for it, it will automatically lock – or users can do it themselves with Remote Lock from any device, using just their phone number and a simple security check. It doesn’t stop there though – Android 15 brings extra protection that can stop thieves from guessing users’ passwords and getting into personal information. Android have added in extra authentication requirements for settings that are usually targeted by thieves – like removing the SIM, or turning off Find My Device – and will lock the device down if it senses multiple failed attempts for apps and settings. This means that, if thieves do get their hands on an Android device, it’ll be harder for them to reset and sell it, deterring theft to begin with. After all – it won’t be worth their trouble.

It's not just the physical safety of Android phones that are getting a boost in Android 15 – there’s been a real shift to protecting personal privacy, too. In the all-new Private Space, users’ phones have a digital safe where sensitive apps – like social, dating, or banking – can be stored away from the main page. When Private Space is locked, apps remain virtually invisible to others, and are hidden from the apps list, recent apps view, notifications, and settings. And, in harmony with Android 15’s focus on protecting data, there’s an additional layer of authentication before prying eyes can access private apps – or even to see the existence of the Private Space to begin with.


Seamless productivity

It’s not just about keeping things safe – it’s about getting things done, too. Android 15’s new features make it easier for users to access the apps that help them stay in their productive flow – from writing emails, to creating documents, and more. On foldables and tablets specifically, Android 15 allows users to easily pin and unpin their taskbar on the screen, allowing them to customise layouts and keep their favourite apps in close reach. Meanwhile, app pairing provides a quick shortcut to smoother multitasking. Users can now open apps like Google Drive and Gmail at the same time to easily drag and drop files, or save their most frequently used app combinations into a single app icon. To put it simply, Android 15 is cutting out all of the bits that stand in between users and maximum, seamless productivity.
